The subtropical climate and particularly fertile soil allow yerba mate to grow in the best conditions and guarantee maximum quality. This variety was created especially for PUERTO MATE and comes from their plantation in Puerto Esperanza, Argentina. That’s why their mate has only one possible name: PUERTO MATE.

Puerto Mate

In 1926, Alfonso Scherer, an agricultural engineer, joined other Swiss scientists to embark on a research expedition in South America. Together with Paraguayan farmers, they founded the settlement of Puerto Esperanza in the middle of the jungle. At the plantation of Alfonso Scherer, which is still family-owned and produces their mate, they began to put their goal into action: the mate plant's cultivation.
